The Intein Registry lists known inteins sorted by host organism

Properties of individual inteins can be found by clicking on the intein name. Each record includes insertion site information, sequences, references, contact information, homing endonuclease information, etc. An explanation of each field in an intein record is given in the On-line Submission of Intein Data Section.

Please note: Finding DOD homing endonuclease motifs is not sufficient evidence that the gene contains an intein since DOD homing endonucleases are also present in introns and as free standing genes.
